Maintenance work on all City’s voice services scheduled for 7 October

03 October 2025

The City would like to advise residents of further maintenance work on the City’s voice services, which will be performed on 7 October 2025 between 01:00 and 04:00. This is to complete the upgrade work previously performed during September 2025. The City does not expect downtime of longer than 10-15 minutes, but would like to inform residents to be mindful of this period.

‘MTN will be conducting this necessary maintenance work, which is essential to ensure the stability and service improvement of the City of Cape Town voice platform. We ask that residents please take note of this planned downtime as all City voice services will experience an outage and various call centres will be unavailable for this period,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, Alderman Theresa Uys.

During this maintenance window, residents can expect the following:
• Voice call operations will be temporarily affected in a controlled manner
• Users may experience inability to initiate calls
• Unexpected call drops
